MIM 161: Watercolor Splats 2

Another shot at the watercolor splats!
I used Momento's Bahama Blue & Love Letter on this one.
Star Prints images were heat embossed in white; May Arts white curly ribbon. I like the bokeh appearance of this one :)
Did you know the Ribbon Lady got married yesterday? I had the honor of making her bouquet- and in true Ribbon Lady form she is having giveaways to celebrate the event! So head here for more details on the bouquet & the giveaways!

MIM 161: Watercolor Splats

Playing along with MIM this week- last minute again!
I used Bahama Blue ink from Memento for the background, topped it with a doily that my friend Cindy made me with the PTI doily die & stamped the sentiment from the 'Smile' set (that was still out from the hop!)
May Arts 1/2" crochet ribbon & pink sequins from my stash.

April 2014 PTI blog hop

This month the challenge for the PTI hop is to use embroidery as your inspiration.
Here's what I've come up with:
I broke into the Smile set- inked the leaves twice & cut it with a Spellbinder die to mimic the look of the hoop.
I tried doing it on smokey shadow first- but I don't have any embossing powder (in these colors) that shows well on dark cardstock. May need to remedy that at some point! ;)
Versamark & clear embossing for the centers.
Core'dinations paper (from the MME stack) & May Arts kraft Baker's twine. *love*
A little chai distressing around the edges.
Here's the image that inspired me:
Embroidery Hoop Poppies- I don't do embroidery, but if i did, i'd want it to look like this.
Happy Hopping!
Here's Hadley with her sweet kitten Annie Crookshanks McGonagall on Easter :)

MIM #159: No-sew Quilted Cards

Sunday night post for me!
This week's MIM challenge was to make a quilted card without sewing. This was pretty fun & I can see making another one soon!

I've used DCWV paper & May Arts burlap string to tie on my tag.
I don't have any cover plates yet, but the giga guidelines impression plate worked pretty well :)

May Arts & Lawn Fawn...

May Arts & Lawn Fawn have teamed up again! Lawn Fawn has such fun designs- I love working with them!
First up I've got a card using Summertime Charm stamps & Hello Sunshine petite paper pack!
I stamped the jar image with Staz-On Blue Hawaii on vellum then hand cut the jar.

I machine stitched the jar onto the patterned paper then slid the satin leaves inside the jar & tied some turquoise Baker's Twine around the neck of the jar. Pink frayed flowers with DCWV pearls make quick blooms!

Next up is a teacher card- in time for teacher appreciation week!
I've used A Good Apple stamp set with the Dewey Decimal petite paper pack.

I stamped the image on DCWV chalkboard paper with white ink & white heat embossing. The top border has 1/4" champagne twill stripe ribbon & 3/4" tape measure printed canvas is tied below.

Okay- now it's time to hop- you know there are prizes!
The giveaway is 3 sets of prize packs of a roll of ribbon and a stamp set each!
That's 3 winners total!
You need to post on both May Arts and Lawn Fawn sites to win.

Here's the list for the week:

We're celebrating our April 1 girl today!
We made her cake & used spellbinder dies & glitter core'dinations cardstock for the the snowflakes- cricut cut '9'.

Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop!

So happy to be a part of the May Arts Autism Awareness Day Hop again this year!
(You can see my project from last year HERE); this year we were to use the puzzle piece as our inspiration!
Here's what I came up with:

I painted several puzzle pieces with acrylic paint & when they were dry I lightly distressed & used them on my card!
I used a Dreamweaver Stencil on the card base (I'm kind of addicted to them!)
I tied the new 3" navy tulle & the 5/8" periwinkle cotton/stripe ribbon on top of that. I added some white wired colored string, wrapping it around a pencil for the curl.

Make sure you stop by all the blogs for your chance at 3 spools from our "blue" ribbons - winner's choice.  To win: post a comment along the way.

MIM #157: DIY Cover Plates

Barely making it again for MIM!
I went old school & pulled out the butterflies!

Trying out the Tsukineko Radiant NEON ink!! LOVE!

Fun technique- I can see using this again!

We made it through the PTA vortex of March!! Lol. Tuesday is my sweet girl's birthday & she's been asking for a kitten for such a long time.... Surprising your child with exactly what they want?
Best.Feeling.Ever.

March 2014 PTI Blog Hop

Super quick for me- I've got a shiny umbrella to share for the hop!
I created it with layers of UTEE.
Raindrop stencil is Dreamweaver- I embossed it too, although difficult to see the raindrops are raised- so will link to the Moxie Fab World Stencil challenge too!!
ETA: I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Mallard for the raindrops; Paper is DCWV
Happy Hopping!

MIM #156: 3D stamp paint

This week the challenge was to add dimension with paint. I didn't have the paint that Melissa used so I thought I'd try adding to acrylic paint. I can tell you not to add gel medium to paint if you're going to use it this way. Kind of takes the finish off your embossing plate :(
I ended up using Dreamweaver embossing paste & acrylic paint.
 PP is Studio Calico
Sporting the brand new KRAFT Baker's Twine from May Arts
LOVE.
And here are my two loves- as they were heading to the Daddy Daughter dance (with a 'Surf's Up! theme!)
Barely making it again...

May Arts + Penny Black!

May Arts & Penny Black have teamed up this week!
This has been my first experience with Penny Black & I really loved the images!
First up I've created a 4.25" square card using the Japanese Maple Leaf image on top of the Letter Background stamp. I stamped on watercolor paper & I used 1.5" silky crush in bittersweet & 1" sheer in pewter for my ribbon accent.

Next up is the Scented Message image.
I watercolored the image with watercolor pencils & I've added a 1.25" violet silk & 5/8" textured two tone ribbon in purple/pink. I also tucked in some satin leaves!

My last creation uses the Flower Poetry image- I just love those dogwood blooms with the script. Based on my choices, apparently I love script with everything!
Another 4.25" square card- more watercolor pencil, and also watercolored with Delicata ink- the shimmer in person is gorgeous! I used 5/8" faux canvas in salmon & 5/8" pink sheer ruffle layered- I wrapped them around the card & tied it up on the side.

That's it for me today- I had a great time with the Penny Black images!
Now make sure you stop by all the blogs- there's a prize every day!!

MIM: #154- Color & Texture for One Layer Cards

This week the challenge at MIM was to add color & texture to one-layer cards.
I used chamomile stamped off with the embellishments set & it's still a bit too dark for the look I was going for. A couple different greens for the leaves, a little ink spatter & an embossed frame around the sentiment.
I was supposed to be getting my taxes ready- at least it was creative procrastination!
Friday was a spirit day at school- a 'read-in' in honor of Dr.Seuss's birthday- Hadley wore her jammies & the entire class was surprised to find their teacher had taken nearly all of the furniture out & replaced it with tents for the day! It.Was.AWESOME.
Had's teacher makes ME want to be in third grade!!!
Here's the door to their class:

MIM: #153- Watercolor Emboss Resist

Sneaking in again for MIM!
Mine is the same as Dawn's, but with blue watercolor.
I did add some blue crochet, well, because I couldn't resist.
Bwahaha!!!
Erin let me know that my hop card made the PTI email spotlight this month!!!! WOOOHOOO! (I didn't have internet for awhile, so hadn't seen it yet!)

It was a great day on the slopes- snow so dry & light!!! But BRRR!!!
Here's a pic of my 2 favorite skiers- the lift opened 15 minutes early & we were right there- darn near the first down the face today :)
