May 2014 PTI Blog Hop & MIM #165: Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds

This month the PTI challenge is to use melon & aqua! Easy peasy for me since I am loving that combo right now!
I used pretty peonies for the flower/dies & trendy trees for the sentiment.
I incorporated the MIM challenge this week too! I used some fab letterpress paper that Erin had sent me- perfect for watercoloring!

*I really need to retake the photo during the daylight!*

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Hopping!!

May Arts + Um Wow + Avery Elle!

We've got a really fun pairing this week between May Arts, Um Wow & Avery Elle!
All of these projects use the Oh Happy Day set from Avery Elle.
Here's what I came up with:

For this card I used the Um Wow Butterfly Confetti as a mask & misted with Dreamweaver Blue Martini & Tattered Angels Mallard spray inks.
I stamped the sentiment & heat embossed with white powder.

I layered 2 types of May Arts pleated ribbon: 5/8" satin pleats in teal & 5/8" sheer box pleat in ivory.
Next up I used the Um Wow Ray Background on patterned paper from the  DCWV 'my sunshine' stack. I misted with Imaginecrafts Fireworks spray ink in Summer Sky. Love the shimmer on this!

I stamped the sentiment 3 times- you can't really see it well, but there are 2 blues (fresh ink pool & turquoise) and Tsukineko Delicata golden glitz. The bird is only stamped in turquoise.
:)
I used the May Arts 1.5" blue denim for my tab & layered 2 gold ribbons to tie it all together: metallic gold string & gold string metallic ribbon.

Last up I used the Um Wow Layered Hearts chipboard. I painted one of the hearts with red acrylic paint & then added Tsukineko GlazOn for some shine.
I stamped the arrow & the sentiment in black ink (versafine).

I tied 1/4" chevron twill in red around the card & added a black & white Baker's Twine bow to the knot.

I had so much fun playing with the Um Wow goodies & am smitten with the font from the Avery Elle set- pretty sure you'll be seeing a LOT of that :)
Well you know there are always prizes with a hop!

The giveaway is 3 prize packs of:
1 Stamp Set
1 roll of ribbon
1 mask, flair set & layered chipboard set

May Arts Ragamuffin Post!

The ribbon lady had a fun idea- for the ribbonistas to make ragamuffin buntings- and we all chose our own color scheme!
I've got pink & neutrals for my ragamuffin project- and it's already got a home in my daughter's bedroom!
(YES! We need to paint!!)
Lol.
She has new bedding so this fun bunting is a great addition!

There are a LOT of different ribbons in it!
I used 8-12" for each piece, depending on the ribbon.

This project actually goes faster than you'd think. I cut a bunch of lengths of each type, laid them in front of me & tied them on repeating in the same order.

So here's a list of the ribbons I've used:

all tied to a Baker's Twine in kraft base!

An even dozen May Arts Ribbons!!

What a fun project! I'm sure you'll be inspired when you see all the takes & colors the Ribbonistas have in store for you!
Head over to the May Arts blog to check them all out!
Make sure you leave a comment! TWO lucky winners will win a spool of their choice!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Pretty & Pink

I'm playing along with the Curtain Call Challenge this week after seeing the inspiration on Erin's blog.
I didn't refer back to it- went from memory- and this is what I came up with:

Paper is Authentique- and I love it!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

It's Staff Appreciation week across the land!
I feel beyond grateful for the wonderful staff that is within my daughter's school district. Her teacher this year makes me want to be in 3rd grade myself! I admit to being sad that the end of the school year is fast approaching....
So we made the staff Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub! Head over to The Idea Room for the recipe (and the printable)! I used my doTerra lime essential oil, so this is an edible sugar scrub. Not that we licked the bowl.
Nope.
Okay- we totally did. It was DELISH!!!

I gussied them up with some parrot green May Arts Twill & tied on the tag with parrot green burlap string.

And check out what my sweet girl came up with on her own! She's been making rainbow loom charms like crazy- so she made some pencil charms for some of her faves! Her teacher is a huge Sounders Soccer fan- so she used those colors for her pencil. On the back she wrote:
"Thank you for il'loom'inating our lives"
I kid you not. That girl has the sweetest heart!

And then I made a lemon glazed lemon pound cake. I hope they liked it. I did a trial run of the recipe over the weekend & it didn't come out of the pan clean so it was a hot mess- but a delicious hot mess!!
:)

It's been pretty busy around here! Doesn't leave any time for visiting sweet friends' blogs- but I know this time will go so fast & trying to cherish every moment....

MIM 161: Watercolor Splats 2

Another shot at the watercolor splats!
I used Momento's Bahama Blue & Love Letter on this one.
Star Prints images were heat embossed in white; May Arts white curly ribbon. I like the bokeh appearance of this one :)
Did you know the Ribbon Lady got married yesterday? I had the honor of making her bouquet- and in true Ribbon Lady form she is having giveaways to celebrate the event! So head here for more details on the bouquet & the giveaways!

MIM 161: Watercolor Splats

Playing along with MIM this week- last minute again!
I used Bahama Blue ink from Memento for the background, topped it with a doily that my friend Cindy made me with the PTI doily die & stamped the sentiment from the 'Smile' set (that was still out from the hop!)
May Arts 1/2" crochet ribbon & pink sequins from my stash.

April 2014 PTI blog hop

This month the challenge for the PTI hop is to use embroidery as your inspiration.
Here's what I've come up with:
I broke into the Smile set- inked the leaves twice & cut it with a Spellbinder die to mimic the look of the hoop.
I tried doing it on smokey shadow first- but I don't have any embossing powder (in these colors) that shows well on dark cardstock. May need to remedy that at some point! ;)
Versamark & clear embossing for the centers.
Core'dinations paper (from the MME stack) & May Arts kraft Baker's twine. *love*
A little chai distressing around the edges.
Here's the image that inspired me:
Embroidery Hoop Poppies- I don't do embroidery, but if i did, i'd want it to look like this.
Happy Hopping!
Here's Hadley with her sweet kitten Annie Crookshanks McGonagall on Easter :)

MIM #159: No-sew Quilted Cards

Sunday night post for me!
This week's MIM challenge was to make a quilted card without sewing. This was pretty fun & I can see making another one soon!

I've used DCWV paper & May Arts burlap string to tie on my tag.
I don't have any cover plates yet, but the giga guidelines impression plate worked pretty well :)

May Arts & Lawn Fawn...

May Arts & Lawn Fawn have teamed up again! Lawn Fawn has such fun designs- I love working with them!
First up I've got a card using Summertime Charm stamps & Hello Sunshine petite paper pack!
I stamped the jar image with Staz-On Blue Hawaii on vellum then hand cut the jar.

I machine stitched the jar onto the patterned paper then slid the satin leaves inside the jar & tied some turquoise Baker's Twine around the neck of the jar. Pink frayed flowers with DCWV pearls make quick blooms!

Next up is a teacher card- in time for teacher appreciation week!
I've used A Good Apple stamp set with the Dewey Decimal petite paper pack.

I stamped the image on DCWV chalkboard paper with white ink & white heat embossing. The top border has 1/4" champagne twill stripe ribbon & 3/4" tape measure printed canvas is tied below.

Okay- now it's time to hop- you know there are prizes!
The giveaway is 3 sets of prize packs of a roll of ribbon and a stamp set each!
That's 3 winners total!
You need to post on both May Arts and Lawn Fawn sites to win.

Here's the list for the week:

We made her cake & used spellbinder dies & glitter core'dinations cardstock for the the snowflakes- cricut cut '9'.

Autism Awareness Day Blog Hop!

So happy to be a part of the May Arts Autism Awareness Day Hop again this year!
(You can see my project from last year HERE); this year we were to use the puzzle piece as our inspiration!
Here's what I came up with:

I painted several puzzle pieces with acrylic paint & when they were dry I lightly distressed & used them on my card!
I used a Dreamweaver Stencil on the card base (I'm kind of addicted to them!)
I tied the new 3" navy tulle & the 5/8" periwinkle cotton/stripe ribbon on top of that. I added some white wired colored string, wrapping it around a pencil for the curl.

Make sure you stop by all the blogs for your chance at 3 spools from our "blue" ribbons - winner's choice.  To win: post a comment along the way.
