May 2014 PTI Blog Hop & MIM #165: Artsy Watercolor Backgrounds

This month the PTI challenge is to use melon & aqua! Easy peasy for me since I am loving that combo right now!
I used pretty peonies for the flower/dies & trendy trees for the sentiment.
I incorporated the MIM challenge this week too! I used some fab letterpress paper that Erin had sent me- perfect for watercoloring!

*I really need to retake the photo during the daylight!*

Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Hopping!!

May Arts + Um Wow + Avery Elle!

We've got a really fun pairing this week between May Arts, Um Wow & Avery Elle!
All of these projects use the Oh Happy Day set from Avery Elle.
Here's what I came up with:

For this card I used the Um Wow Butterfly Confetti as a mask & misted with Dreamweaver Blue Martini & Tattered Angels Mallard spray inks.
I stamped the sentiment & heat embossed with white powder.

I layered 2 types of May Arts pleated ribbon: 5/8" satin pleats in teal & 5/8" sheer box pleat in ivory.
Next up I used the Um Wow Ray Background on patterned paper from the  DCWV 'my sunshine' stack. I misted with Imaginecrafts Fireworks spray ink in Summer Sky. Love the shimmer on this!

I stamped the sentiment 3 times- you can't really see it well, but there are 2 blues (fresh ink pool & turquoise) and Tsukineko Delicata golden glitz. The bird is only stamped in turquoise.
:)
I used the May Arts 1.5" blue denim for my tab & layered 2 gold ribbons to tie it all together: metallic gold string & gold string metallic ribbon.

Last up I used the Um Wow Layered Hearts chipboard. I painted one of the hearts with red acrylic paint & then added Tsukineko GlazOn for some shine.
I stamped the arrow & the sentiment in black ink (versafine).

I tied 1/4" chevron twill in red around the card & added a black & white Baker's Twine bow to the knot.

I had so much fun playing with the Um Wow goodies & am smitten with the font from the Avery Elle set- pretty sure you'll be seeing a LOT of that :)
Well you know there are always prizes with a hop!

The giveaway is 3 prize packs of:
1 Stamp Set
1 roll of ribbon
1 mask, flair set & layered chipboard set

May Arts Ragamuffin Post!

The ribbon lady had a fun idea- for the ribbonistas to make ragamuffin buntings- and we all chose our own color scheme!
I've got pink & neutrals for my ragamuffin project- and it's already got a home in my daughter's bedroom!
(YES! We need to paint!!)
Lol.
She has new bedding so this fun bunting is a great addition!

There are a LOT of different ribbons in it!
I used 8-12" for each piece, depending on the ribbon.

This project actually goes faster than you'd think. I cut a bunch of lengths of each type, laid them in front of me & tied them on repeating in the same order.

So here's a list of the ribbons I've used:

all tied to a Baker's Twine in kraft base!

An even dozen May Arts Ribbons!!

What a fun project! I'm sure you'll be inspired when you see all the takes & colors the Ribbonistas have in store for you!
Head over to the May Arts blog to check them all out!
Make sure you leave a comment! TWO lucky winners will win a spool of their choice!
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Teacher/Staff Appreciation

It's Staff Appreciation week across the land!
I feel beyond grateful for the wonderful staff that is within my daughter's school district. Her teacher this year makes me want to be in 3rd grade myself! I admit to being sad that the end of the school year is fast approaching....
So we made the staff Coconut Lime Sugar Scrub! Head over to The Idea Room for the recipe (and the printable)! I used my doTerra lime essential oil, so this is an edible sugar scrub. Not that we licked the bowl.
Nope.
Okay- we totally did. It was DELISH!!!

I gussied them up with some parrot green May Arts Twill & tied on the tag with parrot green burlap string.

And check out what my sweet girl came up with on her own! She's been making rainbow loom charms like crazy- so she made some pencil charms for some of her faves! Her teacher is a huge Sounders Soccer fan- so she used those colors for her pencil. On the back she wrote:
"Thank you for il'loom'inating our lives"
I kid you not. That girl has the sweetest heart!

And then I made a lemon glazed lemon pound cake. I hope they liked it. I did a trial run of the recipe over the weekend & it didn't come out of the pan clean so it was a hot mess- but a delicious hot mess!!
:)

It's been pretty busy around here! Doesn't leave any time for visiting sweet friends' blogs- but I know this time will go so fast & trying to cherish every moment....
