October 2016 PTI Blog Hop & MIM #265: Layered Dry Brushing

Playing along with the MIM challenge as well as the PTI Blog Hop!
Here's my take:

I thought the background was well suited for the dry brushing technique- I used a gray and orange acrylic paint with two different sized brushes for the background.
Once it was dry I pulled out Mum's the Word, Life & Graceful Greetings. They are stamped with a combination of distress ink & zig markers & brushed with a wet brush. The sentiment was also stamped with the zig marker and then topped with smokey shadow ink.
A few gold sequins finish it off!
Here's the gorgeous inspiration:

Off to work on book fair set up details- looking forward to hopping tonight!

MFT Sketch Challenge #303

My friend Erin sent me some bits & layers and challenged me to a 10 minute session to play in the MFT sketch challenge- I missed the deadline so set the pieces aside but pulled them out in the nick of time this morning!

I went with an  Erin-esque color scheme!
Here's the sketch:

Lawnscaping Challenge #140: Color Scheme

Playing along with Lawnscaping Challenge #140- black, purple and I chose orange for my extra color!
Working on Halloween cards- this guy seemed like he was already wearing a mask! :D

I've used Critters in the Forest and zigged the raccoon and the background. A few water spatters & some tiny stars add to the night sky. A few layers of orange & black ribbons with a silhouette cut sentiment to finish it off!

MIM #264: Die-cut Stencil Shapes

Sneaking in a quick post for MIM #264!
Melissa always has such beautiful inspiration & techniques.
Here's my take:

Stamps & dies from Meadow Greens. The sentiment is from Botanical Silhouettes.
Wish I had been able to photograph this in daylight!!
Now off to try to sleep after that Seahawks game. I don't think these evening games are my favorite- too hard to sleep afterwards!

The Heart Desires Challenge #5: Mid-Challenge Inspiration!

I've got some mid-challenge inspiration for you today over at The Heart Desires!

I've put Concord & 9th Give Thanks stamps to work and stacked them up in the inspiration colors! I've used various inks & zig markers to achieve the colors on Strathmore Bristol Vellum paper.
I didn't have a big black sentiment that seemed right so I cut several layers of 'celebrate' on my silhouette and stacked them up. A few pale pink ink spatters to try to get all the inspiration colors in and several sequins to finish it off!
Don't you love these images as feathers?

I love this fun inspiration- I hope you can join us and play along!

MIM #263: Background Building with Frames

Popping in with a card for this week's MIM challenge using the sweet Wee Folk set.

I made my frames by using 2 different spellbinder dies- I love the look of this!
Distress ink (weathered wood) for the background & stamping on the base layer. The fox is stamped in red rocket gold brilliance ink- which really seems the perfect color in person!
A little kraft twine & sparkling clear sequins finish it off.

The Heart Desires Challenge #5

I can't tell you how excited I am to be joining this team! Such a great group of kind and talented women!!
I'm usually such a literal girl- but I did a photo shoot at a pumpkin patch this weekend and was smitten by the white pumpkins! So I've Stacked 'Em Up & the sentiment is a little large so we'll call it 2/3!

I've used Concord & 9th Give Thanks stamps for the sentiment. Delicata Golden Glitz ink was used, heat embossed with gold, and offset to stamp again.
The background panel is Strathmore watercolor paper with dark brown Brusho Watercolor crystals. All of those items are available in the store!
Layering panel in rust color is from PTI.
The pumpkins are from Impression Obsession.
A few gold sequins & gold string finish it off!
