March 2011 PTI Blog Hop & Make it Monday

The challenge this month was to use embroidery thread. The Make it Monday challenge was to use color (they showed copics, I used prismacolor pencil) on colored cardstock. And I have a little person about to turn 6!

I'm not convinced this will be her birthday card. I like the banners- I added dark pink in a few areas for detail.

It needed something on top, so I added the stars. Large is versamark, smaller is vintage cream.

I crocheted this flower forever ago! Do you do that? Make a bunch of embellishments at a time?
A versamark butterfly next to the sentiment....
Thanks so much for stopping by- have fun hopping!

Spring Wreath with Jay Gee's

I have a million things I should be doing. So I made a card. Yes, I do need to make some cards, but I didn't NEED to make this one. But here it is:
and I kinda love it.
This is the first time I've played along with Jay Gee's challenge. When I saw it I knew I wanted to play- and here it is, only a little over a day left in a month long challenge!

This color combo makes me happy! I've got friends moving into their first house as I type- thought this would be a fun card for them....

PTI aqua mist & white cardstock. Spellbinders die. PTI wreath stamps. Ink is versafine brown, and versamagic aquatic splash, brilliance sunflower yellow (yes, I did have to go look those up!). I also used fresh snow for the sentiment & embossed it with powder that I kid you not- is probably over 20 years old! (I started stamping as an infant- very doogie houser, I know) Those pearls are from a LSS (ben franklins). You may have suspected the ribbon is May Arts. You are so right! :) I believe it is the only yellow ribbon I have- and it also makes me happy!
Here's the inspiration photo- gorgeous, right?

Thanks so much for stopping by- now back to the million things I NEED to be doing! (I really wish one of them was sleeping!)

shabby-ish birthday

I need to get this one in the mail!! I've had these tidbits on my desk & finally put them together!
PTI vintage cream cardstock, round & round sentiment, giga guidelines embossing plate.

I used the Make it Monday technique to just emboss the bottom (and last weeks to distress the edges!)
Old book print, Once upon a Springtime by Graphic 45 & crochet ribbon by May Arts.
We missed seeing this little surprise being born by about 15 minutes yesterday! This pasture is on the same street as Hadley's school & after I dropped her off I stopped to see the sweet baby & he was still slimey!

The owner rescued 2 ponies last fall (one is the mother) & had no idea she was pregnant!

there is still a chance this little guy won't make it- no prenatal & no vet (or anyone that knew what they were doing) for a few hours. Mama wasn't making milk yet. The poor owner was so stressed out & worried! I hope this little guy makes it!!! I'm thinking that being born on St. Patrick's day HAS to bring him a bit o' luck, right?!
:)
Don't forget to head over to May Arts for more giveaways- first day of spring is oh-so-close!

My first Waltz...

I've recently discovered Waltzingmouse stamps- or should I say a couple of enabling friends have introduced me? :) So I was excited to be able to participate in this month's waltz! You can read more about it on Claire's blog!

The theme was St. Pat's- and they have this lovely freebie that I downloaded & went to town on!

I have to admit, this is the most coloring I've done in a loooong time- I used prismas & mineral spirits. I cut it with a scalloped nestie, inked th edge with chai ink while it was still in the die & stacked it on the cute JBS mini deck paper.

A little May Arts silk & a safety pin from my stash, chamomile ink all the way around & done! Thanks so much for this pretty image Waltzingmouse!
(the best part? I've already given this to a friend- yay!)

Erin go bragh!

just a quick pop in to show the little pins I made for St. Paddy's day!
My friend Charlene gave me this idea- had to make one for Hadley!
ETA- Charlene's friend Steph was the origination of the cute shamrock...!

here's the back-

and here's the one I made for myself & Had's teacher!

speaking of burnt flowers- the 'best of week' is going on at May Arts- you may want to head over there to check it out- might be worth your while.. *wink, wink!*

and here's my little supervisor- I was trying to get some measurements in our yard, but had to abandon the effort- as you may have guessed- due to rain!
That's it for now! Thanks for stopping by!!

Spring flower distressed...

Well look at me! I got another card done! Truth be told, I HAD to, as it's being given to the recipient tomorrow!!
I was inspired by the spring/green challenge at Wee Memories
I added some distressing to the edge for the Make it Monday Challenge at PTI
And my handmade flower is focal for the Cosmo Cricket challenge!

PTI vintage cream cardstock; fancy flourishes, round & round, enjoy the ride stamps; SU! old olive, PTI vintage cream & smokey shadow inks.
And a quick peek at the inside- I like how clean it looks, even with the pin through it!
I really do believe there's hope for spring soon- the frogs already have quite a song going tonight!!
Thanks so much for stopping by- I'd love to hear what you think! :)

Spring IS near!

The challenge this week at Wee Memories is to incorporate spring or green!
Flowers say spring to me for sure- and what's better than a handmade flower? One incorporated onto a sweet birthday gift, of course! :)

I used more of that yummy Heather Bailey paper mod-podged onto a 'G'. I then made an accordian flower out of the reverse side of the paper, and embellished with some FABULOUS new May Arts pleated ribbon & leaves!

I added a pearl & stamped her name onto a banner!

I also included a ribbon flower clip! Doesn't it look cute on the PTI button boutique tag?
I had to add one to show you the dimension....

Thanks so much for stopping by- I'd love to know what you think! :)

PCD sketch + OTWC 48

I'm in love with this:
wishing I had more time to make dozens of cards with this OTWC board as my inspiration....but alas, I'm short on time- so was happy to use this Practicing Creativity Designs sketch to use! (did you know that Courtney's blog used to be called One day at a time?! It's still listed as that in my reader....)

And here's my take!

The whole cycle over Heather Bailey paper- CAS!!! I might make another with the basket of flowers.... so cute!
Thanks for stopping by- I always love hearing what you think!

Ribbon wedding cake....

Over at May Arts there's a tutorial on how to make this card:
Head over & check it out! While you're there, don't forget to play 'I spy' for a chance to win some ribbon scraps!
And my May Arts dt pal, Kimberly Jones, just let me know that she's also featured it on Craft Gossip! Thanks Kimberly!

Aquamarine...

That's the challenge this week at Stamping Bella- use aquamarine. Did you know it's the birthstone for March? Me neither. hmph.
So here's what I've got:

Alice colored with prisma pencils. I really want to try out odorless mineral spirits with them- Bella's got a phenom tutorial. It will be a challenge, as I tend to have a very light hand with coloring...
Heather Bailey paper. Having a tough time finding the fabric locally, but I've got this cute paper (and I USED it!!!)

Delish ribbon, no?
I know I don't have to tell you, as you've already guessed it's May Arts....
Hoping this is enough aquamarine. I know my friend Erin will be very pleased at how this is not monochromatic aquamarine (and very literal!)- baby steps for me too.
What do you think?

If I show you how behind I am

will it motivate me to scrap? Seriously. These are the last pages I've completed- and I haven't scrapped anything in a year. You'll notice the date on these is 2006. Seriously? Where did all those years disappear to? And what happened to my baby?

Nothing too crazy- all MME paper/journaling spot. I had to ink up the underlying page (creative memories album) since the pretty paper has a deco. edge.

I did some hand-stitching as well as machine stitching- that was a first for a page...

and this is the other page- photos all taken at the same time- and while the pages aren't the same, they're still matchy-matchy. How am I going to get over that?

ok. I put it out there. mostly as a challenge to myself to get some pics done & document some memories. Lordy knows they're fading all too quickly...
