May Arts: Unique Gift Wrapping

Welcome to my stop on the May Arts Unique Gift Wrapping hop! :)
I found this pin awhile ago & thought it was a really fun idea- but it needed ribbon!!

I used two pieces of kraft paper & held them together with clothes pins. I sketched a simple stocking shape (I outlined in black so you could see it in the pics) & cut it out.

I didn't want pin holes so I used more clothes pins to hold the stocking together so that I could sew it.
You can see I added the 1.5" wired burlap with lace edge in natural, topped it with burgundy 5/8" satin pleats & tied a loose bunch of natural burlap string aound the pleats.

I left the top open for filling & tied a stamped Artful Accents kraft decorative tag & jingle bell on.
If I actually had my gift prepared I would sew the top up like the link I pinned above, but....
:D

I think this looks adorable! You could make lots of shapes- the example had a star, but a simple circle could be decorated to look like an ornament! And this takes just a bit of ribbon, so a great use for those pretty bits that are too small for much else!
